Sami Culture and reindeer sledding

Spend a day with the ingenious people and try the oldest form of transport in the north!

NOTE:
1. Everyone who participates in Aurora Alps activities in the winter of 2020 - 2021 must have their own mittens and hats, adapted to our Arctic climate, due to Covid -19.
2. We will introduce temperature measurement for all our transports before boarding, using a Non-Contact IR Fever Thermometer. Those with a proven fever can unfortunately not get on board.

We have daily departures via scenic fjord and mountain landscape every morning and evening throughout the winter season. The daytime adventures offer wonderful views while the evening tours offer excellent opportunities to experience the majestic Northern Lights. If you want to experience both, we offer Full-Day packages with a variety of combinations.

Upon arrival at Camp Tamok, we dress in warm winter clothes and boots and then head off to explore the ancient part of Sami culture and try the oldest form of transport in the north. As our reindeer herd is some distance from our barking huskies, your adventure will start with a short transfer by minibus to our Sami Camp. This fascinating cultural adventure includes reindeer sledding, introduction in lasso throwing, storytelling about the Sami culture and feeding the reindeer.

After this memorable encounter with the indigenous Sami people, you will return to Camp Tamok where we will serve you a hot meal around an open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent. After relaxing and warming up, it is time to head back to Tromso and reflect on a memorable experience.
